Sibelga lends a hand to RESA following the floods

Following the devastating floods in July 2021, some fifty Sibelga technicians went to the scene to lend a hand to their Liège counterparts from RESA.

For several weeks and under the supervision of RESA, the Sibelga volunteers mainly repaired connections, replaced and sealed meters. They also put electrical cabins into service. In total: about 2,000 hours of work.

In addition to this human support, equipment such as pumps and generators were sent by Sibelga’s logistics department.

“What I remember in particular is the exchange with the inhabitants. They did not expect to have help from people coming from Brussels and they were very grateful. The group cohesion that was created on the spot also impressed me a lot. There was a really good understanding between people from different Sibelga departments, who didn’t necessarily know each other, and RESA,” says Thomas Huybrechts from the Customer Works Department.

RESA’s technicians also expressed their gratitude: “What we experienced last July will stay with us forever. The scope of the work was enormous, as was the distress of the citizens. In such difficult times, the mutual aid, solidarity and dynamism shown by our Sibelga colleagues really carried us through. In addition to enabling us to move forward more quickly thanks to their expertise in the field, their presence and their smiles were a real comfort to everyone. Thank you Sibelga!” says Emmanuel Marien, a technician at RESA.
